Queen Latifah

Dana Elaine Owens - better popularly referred to as Queen Latifah - is an American actress, rapper and acrobat. Queen Latifah is an American actress, rapper as well as a singer. Queen Latifah's parents are Lancelot and Rita Owens. Both were police officers. Rita was a Newark New Jersey teacher who was a teacher in Irvington High School. Her father and mother split when Latifah turned ten. Latifah was born and brought up in Newark New Jersey attended Catholic schools in Newark. Latifah is a word that means gentle and gentle. Her mother gave it to her at the age of eight years old. Latifah has always been large, at 5'10" and was the power forward of her high-school basketball team. The song she sang was"Home" from The Wiz at a school play. Latifah started beatboxing in the ladies fresh rap group. Latifah joined the original Flavor Unit group, which included a number of MCs and DJ Mark 45 King. Mark James aka the 45 King, made a recording of Queen Latifah's Princess of the Posse rap. The song was recorded and given to Yo! MTV Raps, Freddy. Dante Ross, an employee of Tommy Boy Music who heard the song, and then was signed by Latifah in 1988 for the release of her first single Wrath of My Madness.
